An Upcoming Review

Hello fellow food lovers! Boy, do I have some exciting news. Have you ever heard of CSN? Well, let me tell you about it. CSN is an online retailer with over 200 stores, where you can find everything from a counter stool to new cookware. Recently, I was contacted by Caitlin from the CSN team and she wanted to know if I would be interested in doing a review on one of their products. How could I refuse that? :) I feel very flattered that I was chosen, because lets face it, there are a bazillion food blogs out there to choose from. I have looked at the CSN website and must say, I wish I could review everything! There are so many things to look at, I just can't wait to get my hands on a new kitchen thing-ma-bob.

In case you were curious, here is a peek of the site itself:

See what I mean about choices? ;)

Okay folks, that's it for now. I will post again soon and until then, a word from Julia Child...

"You don't have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces - just good food from FRESH ingredients."

P.s. You may not consider 'bazillion' a real number, or word for that matter but in my world it is as good as gold :) Off I go to eat a freshly baked brownie!

Farmers Market 2010

Let's go to the Farmers Market together. Sounds boring? Well, what if I told you that I will give you a cupcake? After all, a person can never go wrong with a cupcake.

First, I have a confession to make. Up until yesterday, I had always thought that Farmers Markets were boring. That's right! The girl who made a blog all about food...thought the food market was boring. I just had this visual of this boring place where they sold nothing but vegetables at higher than market value prices. Boy oh boy, did I think wrong. They have so much variety! Things that I have never seen before as well as lots of entertainment. And let me just tell you, I found plenty of things for under five bucks. I have to be honest though and tell you that at first, I noticed the kids entertainment section. I could say that in my defense, I noticed that part first because my kid was in tow, but I'd be lying. Since I'm a kid at heart, it makes perfect sense that I would notice that part first....right?

Anyway, it didn't help that the first thing we noticed was about 20 feet high and looked hungry:

It wasn't just humans that got a taste of food that day either:

We found this little number cruising around the place

Turtles (not real) took a bath while we stared in disbelief

The turtles bathed in a sprinkling fountain of water that created:

Did you find the pot of gold?

Now, I didn't have time to figure these bad boys out but it's definitely on my to-do list for next time. These are called Marshmallow Shooters:

Then we decided to go check out the goods. One of my most favorite things on this planet is a bundle of fresh basil. I absolutely adore the refreshing smell of this herb and I swear if they made a household air freshener that smelled like it, it would be all over my house.

Okay, this is where I get blown away. Did you know that they have other delectable foods such as marmalade, stuffed olives, hummus and pickled onions?? (Enter heavenly sigh here)

Somewhere along the line I met these beautiful people. It was their first year at the market. They had the sweetest looking cabbage I've ever seen and were quite possibly the nicest people there that day.

I stumbled across so many things! It was really so much fun. I wish you could have been there in person. How do you feel about beets? I personally can't stand them but I do think they're beautiful so I took a picture anyway.

By the way, I had no idea that ORANGE beets existed.

As it turned out, the produce and fruit sections were not so boring after all :)

Do you need a break? Lets sit under the red umbrella with my mom and my son

Even lady bugs need a good rest every once in a while. Don't forget to make a wish :)

You must be starving by now. Let's get some good ol' fashioned BBQ at Willie Birds

While waiting in line, I complimented a lady on her bag.

All done? Let's continue. Garlic. Garlic is like a little piece of heaven wrapped in a crunchy shell

A few steps further and guess what I found? Herbs!

Ah, Lavender. It's pretty and smells soooo good. It is also a known stress reducer. Needless to say, I HAD to buy a little bunch. I put it in my car to help with stressful driving situations. It was only a dollar anyway :)

Speaking of things that smell good

These ones didn't really have an odor but they were interesting and unique

The best treasure that I found during the whole trip was this one. This little treasure almost NEVER stays still long enough for me to take a good picture. Pictures are not his thing. However, I was extremely luck enough to click the button at the perfect moment...before he was able to object. Hee hee :)

Of course, there would be no Farmers Market if not for awesome tractors. My dad has one just like it. I LOVE taking pictures of rusty things. I think I get that from my dad.

I bet you're just dying to know what I walked away with. If not, I will show you anyway, lol

I got lemon pita chips, garlic roasted hummus, strawberries, challah bread, fresh basil, focaccia bread and a present just for you. Oh, and I got all of this and more for maybe 15 bucks.

This present was bought from the lovely

Ready for that cupcake now? It's black cherry & chocolate! Yum!

Needless to say, I am now a HUGE fan of the market! I hope you are too :) Enjoy your cupcake and have a safe holiday weekend!

Super Simple Breakfast Sandwich

Just a few moments ago, my ten year old son requested one of his favorites. He says that it's his favorite breakfast meal because it's so delicious. I say it's one of my favorite meals because it's quick from start to finish, it fills you up and because without him knowing it, it is packed with nutrition. Mostly, anyway.

To an actual adult, it may not be that fancy. In the mornings, I usually don't have patience for a superb creation. I just don't. I'm more of a "wake-up-and-get-it-done-asap" kind of person. I save the best things for when I feel the most creative, which is many cups of caffeinated beverages later (usually dinner time). I mean, every once in a while I will have the need to create something fancy smancy for breakfast, but that only happens about every new presidency or so. If you are like me, this could be perfect for you. It makes you look like your a fancy breakfast/morning person even though you could probably care less. It's pretty much one word: genius.

Recipe:

* Bagels
* Tomato
* Cheese
* Eggs
* Salt and pepper to taste

First I mix the eggs with maybe a tablespoon of milk. Then I scramble away. I slice up the tomato next. When the eggs are almost done, I add a little handful of mozzarella cheese and some salt and pepper. I pop the bagel into the toaster. Yes, it's just that easy. Last, I pile the cheesy eggs onto the bagel, top it with the tomato and voila! Breakfast.

Chocolatey Goodness

Back in the 'young' days, I considered myself more of a fruity candy person than a chocolate candy person. Now, it's almost the opposite. I LOVE MY CHOCOLATE. Milk chocolate is my absolute favorite but since dark chocolate is what is best for people, I eat it without complaining. I consider it my patriotic duty even. There is just something about chocolate that makes my heart....melt, for lack of a better word. It's gooey, goes down smoothly and always makes me feel better about myself. Until I hop on the scale anyway. Still, I like to think that life is too short to ignore a perfectly good opportunity to devour said sweetness.

Last night I was minding my own business as well as the business of others on the wonderful world of the internet when I saw a shadow out of the corner of my eye. I looked up and my boyfriend handed me pure magic! An untouched pint of Haagen Daz dark chocolate ice cream. A smile quickly crawled over my face and I squealed in delight. I squealed some sort of odd (because I am just that..odd) comment about how "This is exactly why I will be pissed if you don't marry me." He smiled and laughed while I hugged and thanked him and then quickly got up to carve a heart into the chocolate goodness.

The image made me so inexplicably happy that I could not think of a better way to start this blog. So from me to you, have a chocolatey kind of day and may the magic of it all make your heart...melt :)
